Why do I need to verify my identity?

In some cases, the practitioner will require creditors to verify their identity prior to allowing them to complete a proof of debt.

If the creditor is a company or other legal entity, the person completing the form on behalf of the creditor will need to verify their own identity.

When verifying your ID Document, the details you enter must exactly match your ID document.

If you are unable to verify your ID documents automatically, please email a copy of your ID document to the practitioner.

Australian Drivers Licence

To verify your identity using an Australian drivers licence, you must enter the following details:

Full name: Enter your full name as it appears on your drivers licence and, if you do not have a middle name, leave the field blank.
Date of Birth: Modern browsers include a date picker for selecting dates easily, while older browsers will prompt you if the date is typed in the wrong format.
State of Issue: Use the dropdown menu to select the state where the licence was issued
Licence Number and Card Number: The below shows you where to locate the licence number (circled in red) and card number (circled in blue)

Australian Passport

To verify your identity using an Australian passport, you must enter the following details:

Full name: Enter your full name as it appears on your ID document and, if you do not have a middle name, leave the field blank.
Date of Birth: Modern browsers include a date picker for selecting dates easily, while older browsers will prompt you if the date is typed in the wrong format.
Passport Document Number: Enter the document number that is located in the top right of your passport.

International ID Verification

International identity documents are verified across a wide range of data sources including credit bureaus, electoral rolls, utility databases, postal databases, government issued ID databases etc.

Given the number of countries and ID documents, we are unable to verify every type of ID document. If your ID verification fails, please try a different form of ID.

To verify your identity using an international ID document, you must enter the following details:

Full name: Enter your full name as it appears on your ID document and, if you do not have a middle name, leave the field blank. The name entered must be in Latin alphabet characters (e.g. A, B, C, ... Z).
Date of Birth: Modern browsers include a date picker for selecting dates easily, while older browsers will prompt you if the date is typed in the wrong format.
ID Document Number: Enter the ID document number exactly as it appears on the document.
Residential Address: Enter the residential address associated with your ID document.
